Jonny Evans has hailed Manchester United’s David de Gea after the Spanish goalkeeper produced a sparkling display during the Red Devils’ 2-1 victory over Norwich City on Sunday.

De Gea, who joined United from Atletico Madrid in a £18.9m deal last summer, pulled off a number of top saves to deny the Canaries, and help the defending champions secure a vital three points at Carrow Road.

And Evans, who was part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s back four as Ryan Giggs scored a late winner to beat Norwich, believes De Gea is starting to show signs that he has settled in the Premier League.

“From day one, David’s shot stopping has been unbelievable,” the Northern Ireland international told United’s website.

“He pulls off saves that you can’t believe. He just needs a bit of confidence and he seems to be getting that.

“David’s presence is building and it is all coming together for him. The language barrier is being broken down and he is coming out of his shell a bit.

“He is a really good lad. He is starting to make a few jokes. He is not afraid to get involved with the lads and have a chat, which is good. That is settling him down.”
