Liverpool are looking for revenge against Tottenham, says Dirk Kuyt

Dirk Kuyt has warned Tottenham that Liverpool will be looking to exact revenge for the Londoners’ victory at Anfield last season when the two sides meet on Monday night.

Liverpool have lost four of their last five games against Harry Redknapp’s side, who currently occupy third place in the Premier League table.

But Kuyt says confidence is high amongst Kenny Dalglish’s squad after the Reds’ cup successes against Manchester City and Manchester United, followed by their 3-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux last Tuesday.

“We were all very disappointed with the way we played at Bolton,” Kuyt told Liverpool’s website. “We know we are better than that and three games can change your whole season as we have showed since then.

“We have the confidence, we are playing well so I don’t think there is a better time for us to meet Spurs.

“We had a great week behind us with two great results against the Manchester teams and a great result against Wolves.

“We are very happy and we want to keep moving forward like this and take our form into the next game.

“It should be a great game. We were disappointed to lose to them at Anfield in our final home game of last season, so we are looking for a little bit of revenge as well.

“We have to keep it going and with the confidence we have got we shouldn’t be afraid of anyone. We are playing at home and with our supporters right behind us we can’t wait for this game.”

The 31-year-old believes Liverpool have drastically improved since their demoralising 4-0 defeat by Tottenham at White Hart Lane back in September.

And the Dutch forward insists the Reds are confident that they can secure fourth place and qualification for next season’s Champions League.

“The game at White Hart Lane earlier this season is something we can’t be really happy with and that was a bad day for us,” said Kuyt. “I know we finished up with nine men but they played really well that day.

“However, we showed against City and United we can compete with and beat the best. Spurs for me are one of the best sides in the league and it would be great to get the three points.

“The race for the top four is still open but the main thing is not to look at other sides like Spurs, Chelsea or Arsenal and we only look at ourselves and I’m sure we will be up there.

“We are right back in it now and if we win our games and play the way we know we can then we should be fine.”
