We need to shake off our bad habits, says Chelsea’s Gary Cahill
Chelsea defender Gary Cahill warns the Blues they must improve their performances after their 1-0 defeat at West Brom
Gary Cahill has warned Chelsea they must improve after the Blues stumbled to their seventh league defeat of the season at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
Gareth McAuley capped a spirited display from the Roy Hodgson’s side when he tapped in the winner from Liam Ridgewell’s shot-cum-cross with eight minutes remaining at the Hawthorns.
The defeat leaves Andre Villas-Boas’s side in fifth place in the Premier League table, three points behind fourth-placed Arsenal.
And Cahill, who joined Chelsea from Bolton Wanderers in January, felt the Londoners should have got something from the game but conceded their performance was not up to par.
“I think we had clearly the best chances in the game,” he told ChelseaTV. “On another day we could have comfortably won it.
“But they did put pressure on us and we did have a lot to do – probably more than we would have liked to have to do.
“We need to improve and we need to get back to winning games because it’s getting a bit of a bad habit at the minute – and obviously one that the lads are bitterly disappointed at. The feeling’s horrible after a loss.”
