Dirk Kuyt: More to come from Liverpool after Carling Cup win
Dirk Kuyt admits Liverpool are on a high after their Carling Cup glory but insists they are focused beating Arsenal on Saturday
Dirk Kuyt has insisted Liverpool want to taste further success this season following their Carling Cup final win at Wembley on Sunday.
The 31-year-old scored in extra-time during the Reds’ cup triumph over Cardiff City, but the Dutch striker admitted the squad are now focused on winning the FA Cup and finishing in fourth place.
Liverpool face Arsenal at Anfield in Saturday’s early kick-off and Kuyt is optimistic the Reds can build on their success at Wembley and claim three points against the Gunners.
“We’ll take all the positives from the final, but it was a few days ago and you have to move on,” he told Liverpool’s website. “You’re never satisfied if you’re playing for this club – you always want to get more. That’s what we want and we’re all looking forward to the game.
“We are still alive in two competitions – the FA Cup and the race for fourth spot. If we win on Saturday we will be right back in it, so we know what we have to do.”
He added: “The team have shown confidence over the last couple of weeks and months. Everyone can see we are progressing in every game we play.
“To win a trophy means a lot for the football club, for the fans and also for the players. Hopefully we can take this with us into the next games and the rest of the season. Hopefully we can take another three points against Arsenal.”
