Consistency will be key to Liverpool’s success, says Dalglish
Kenny Dalglish says Liverpool must be more consistent if the Reds want to become one of the Premier League's best sides
Kenny Dalglish has challenged Liverpool to improve their consistency ahead of a crucial couple of months with the Reds still in the race for fourth place and in the FA Cup semi-finals.
Liverpool beat Cardiff City in the Carling Cup final to end their six-year wait for silverware but a run of three successive defeats in the Premier League hampered their pursuit of Champions League football next season.
But the Reds have returned to form over the last week, beating Everton 3-0 in the Merseyside derby before overcoming Stoke City to reach the last four of the FA Cup.
And Dalglish wants his side to maintain their current form as the Anfield outfit look to overhaul the 10-point advantage fourth-placed Arsenal have and also claim their second trophy of the season.
“It always helps when you are consistent – the best teams are always consistent and we want to get there,” said Dalglish.
“It has been a fantastic effort so far and they have a lot to play for between now and the end of the season.
“Everyone has shown they can take pride in their own level of performance and as long as they are playing [in the team] they will work very hard to get a result.
“You could see by the way the boys went about their work during the game that they wanted to win and that is really pleasing and satisfying for everyone.
“We have got to be applying ourselves properly between now and the end of the season.”
