Man Utd boss Sir Alex not keeping tabs on Man City’s fortunes

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson insists he is only concerned by his side's fortunes - and not those of rivals City

Sir Alex Ferguson insists he is not paying any attention to Manchester City’s fortunes, preferring to focus solely on Manchester United’s title charge.

Both City and United suffered surprise Europa League exits in midweek, leaving the Premier League as the two clubs’ last remaining chance of claiming silverware this season.

Ferguson’s men have managed to muscle themselves ahead of their fierce rivals and now lead Roberto Mancini’s men by a point in the race for the title.

But the United boss insists he is not following City’s run-in and is only concerned by his own side’s push for a record 20th league crown – and believes his squad have the experience to lead the Red Devils to glory.

“To be honest with you I haven’t paid attention really to all their games,” Ferguson told United’s website. “I know they’ve got some hard games like going to Arsenal and they’ve got Chelsea at home next Wednesday. So I look at those two games possibly.

“But for us, we’ve got to take one game at a time. It’s the best way. If you look too far ahead, you can get yourself confused. Thinking too far ahead can be a danger.

“The mental attitude of the players who’ve been there and done it all before is take it one game at a time and that’s exactly what we’re going to do.

“That’s the part they play – the Ferdinands, Evras, Giggs, Scholes and the Rooneys. They’re the ones who will guide the younger players. They bring that sense of ‘It’s not affecting me, it shouldn’t affect you.’ I think it helps, I really do.”
