Manchester City's Mario Balotelli surprises Andrea Stramaccioni at the new Internazionale boss' unveiling on Tuesday

Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli was an unexpected guest at the unveiling of new Internazionale boss Andrea Stramaccioni in Milan on Tuesday.

Stramaccioni, who replaces former Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri at Inter on a temporary basis, was speaking at his first news conference when Balotelli walked into the press room to shake hands with the 36-year-old coach.

The 21-year-old City forward was at Inter’s training ground to speak to his old team-mates following his €22m (£18.4m) move to the Premier League in August 2010.

“I am proud to work with such champions,” said Stramaccioni following Balotelli’s disruption.

“Until Monday they were great champions who I admired, whereas now, they are my champions. The team is very professional and made up of players of a great level.

“It is a pleasure for me to work with them and it has also been easy for me to communicate with them.”

Stramaccioni, who was formerly a youth coach at the San Siro outfit, takes charge of his first Inter game against Genoa on Sunday.
