Our resident betting expert is predicting over 2.5 goals when the Black Cats make the trip to the Etihad Stadium, and backing Chelsea to secure three points against Aston Villa, and Arsenal to beat Queens Park Rangers by a single goal.
French midfielder Samir Nasri appears to be finally settling into life at Eastlands after scoring the winner in City’s 2-1 victory over Chelsea in the last game at the Etihad Stadium. The 24-year-old has had a mixed impact in his first season at City, scoring five goals in 38 appearances. But the former Arsenal playmaker has a key role to play in the title race – and with Sergio Aguero ruled out through injury, the Tipster’s is backing Nasri to step in and score against Sunderland at 6/4.
City remain unbeaten at home in the league this season, and Mancini’s side have scored at least twice in five of their last seven games. And six of City’s last seven games have finished with over 2.5 goals. There have been 12 goals in the last two fixtures between City and Sunderland at the Etihad, so over 2.5 goals on Saturday is excellent value at evens.
Despite winning their last home game against Fulham, Villa are on a really poor run of form with just one victory in eight matches. Alex McLeish’s squad is threadbare with Darren Bent, Charles N’Zogbia and Richard Dunne out injured. Chelsea look a new side under caretaker boss Roberto Di Matteo after winning five of their last seven games, and the Tipster is backing the Blues to win on Saturday at 5/6.
The league’s in-form team Arsenal take on relegation candidates QPR at Loftus Road on Saturday. While Mark Hughes’ side are near the bottom of the table, they’ve not suffered heavy defeats at home – their last four losses have been by a single goal margin. And Arsenal’s last three away victories have also been by a single goal, and the Tipster reckons the same to happen on Saturday is a solid bet at 13/5.
Robin van Persie has been Arsenal’s saviour this season, scoring 26 goals in 29 league games. However, the Dutchman hasn’t scored in his last two fixtures, equalling his longest drought in the league this season. And with the 28-year-old set to face an ailing QPR defence on Saturday, the Tipster’s audacious long-range effort for this edition is for Van Persie to score first and Arsenal to win at 3/1.
