Harry Redknapp has vowed to plan for the future at Tottenham Hotspur after the Football Association approached Roy Hodgson over the vacant England manager’s job.

Redknapp had been the favourite to be appointed as Fabio Capello’s successor but The FA opened talks with West Bromwich Albion boss Hogdson over the weekend.

And the Tottenham boss admits he is now not expecting a call from The FA and is focused on shaping the White Hart Lane club’s future.

“I can’t see it [the England job] coming up for me now,” Redknapp told The Times.

“Good luck to Roy. Everyone else was saying I might get it but I never spoke to Daniel Levy [the Spurs chairman] about England.”

“I’ve got a great job at Spurs and I’d like to continue that for as long as I can. It’s up to Daniel [Levy] whether I get a new contract but I’d like to stay on.

“We’ve had a few difficult weeks but it’s been a great four years. I will plan the future here.”

Speaking to Sky Sports News, the 65-year-old added: “I like Roy, he’s a top man. There are some fantastic players in this country and I’m looking forward to watching the European Championship in the summer. Life is good, I’m a very lucky man.”
