Luis Suárez delight at netting first Liverpool hat-trick at Norwich
Liverpool striker Luis Suárez admits it was "special" to score his first hat-trick for the Reds after a stunning display at Norwich
Luis Suárez has admitted his delight at netting his first Liverpool hat-trick after the Uruguayan striker’s treble fired the Reds to victory at Norwich City.
Suárez grabbed his first in the 24th minute, when he collected Steven Gerrard’s pass on the edge of the area and curled a left-footed shot away from Norwich goalkeeper John Ruddy and into the right corner.
And the 25-year-old doubled his side’s lead four minutes later when he pinched the ball from Elliott Ward and rifled his effort into the Norwich goal, before capping a sparkling performance with a sensational 40-yard lob with Ruddy stranded to seal a 3-0 win.
“It was very special to get my first hat-trick for Liverpool but more important that the team won,” Suárez told Liverpool’s website.
“It was a nice feeling to celebrate with the Liverpool fans and the team played very well.
“I was grateful to Stevie for the first goal when he gave me the pass and it set us on the way to get the three points.”
Asked whether his stunning third was best goal he had ever scored, he added: “I don’t know. It was a nice goal, a great goal but I think I’ve scored some other good goals as well.
“It’s something I like to try. I saw the goalkeeper off his line and fortunately for me the ball went into the net and I was so happy.”
