Mario Balotelli insists he is planning to stay at Manchester City, despite being heavily linked with a move back to Italy
Mario Balotelli has poured cold water over speculation linking him with a move away from Manchester City by insisting he will stay at Eastlands.
The controversial forward looked to be heading for a move back to Italy after a number of incidents both on and off the pitch – but the 21-year-old says he expects to stay with Roberto Mancini’s side.
“I love Italy but I will stay at City,” he told Italian sports daily Corriere dello Sport. “The Premier League is the highest level for a player, and is a league I enjoy.”
Balotelli, who joined City from Internazionale in August 2010, has been called up to Cesare Prandelli’s Italy squad for this summer’s European championship – and the striker is determined to impress in Poland and Ukraine.
“It is a dream come true,” he continued. “The European championship, together with the World Cup, are the most important competitions, and I promise that in Poland and Ukraine I will behave. I cannot wait for it to start.
“I will give my best for the team and try to give satisfaction to the Italian people. We will be the revelation of the tournament.”
