Petr Cech eyes four more successful years at Chelsea
Chelsea goalkeeper signs a fresh four-year deal to keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2016
Petr Cech has revealed his delight at putting pen to paper on a new four-year deal to keep the goalkeeper at Chelsea until 2016.
Cech, who was part of Roberto Di Matteo’s Champions League and FA Cup-winning side last season, has made 369 appearances for the Blues.
“I am really happy to be part of this great club for another four years,” Cech told Chelsea’s website. “I hope the next four years will be as successful as the last eight years I have been at the club.”
The 30-year-old has enjoyed a trophy-laden eight years at Stamford Bridge, winning three Premier League titles, four FA Cups and two Carling Cups, before securing a Champions League winners’ medal after his penalty shootout herorics in Munich.
Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay said Cech has made a “highly significant contribution” to the Blues and sees him as one of the world’s best shot-stoppers.
He added: “It is clear to anyone who watched the climax to the season just completed that Petr continues to perform as well as any goalkeeper in the world.”
