John Ruddy leads the messages of support on Twitter for Chris Hughton after the former Republic of Ireland international is appointed as Paul Lambert’s successor at Norwich City on Thursday.

The 53-year-old has quit Birmingham City to take over at Carrow Road, leading to an inevitable reaction on Twitter.

Norwich goalkeeper John Ruddy (‏@Johnruddy86) is excited by Hughton’s appointment: “Very much looking forward to working with Chris Hughton and his staff, heard nothing but good things. I can’t wait to get started.”

Former Norwich striker Darren Huckerby ‏(@hucks6dh6) is happy with the news too: “Very happy with the Hughton appointment, just need to sort the Grant Holt situation out now! Well done to @davidmcnally62 and the #Ncfc board in appointing Chris Hughton under difficult circumstances the club did it the right way.”

England legend Gary Lineker ‏(@GaryLineker) reckons it’s a shrewd move by Norwich: “Very wise appointment by Norwich City. Chris Hughton played a huge part in Newcastle’s rise, and he was doing a good job at Birmingham.”
