Brendan Rodgers said that the process of building a Liverpool squad capable of winning the Premier League title starts now after the Northern Ireland manager was unveiled as Kenny Dalglish’s successor on Friday.

Here, we take a look at some of the reaction on Twitter to Rodgers’ unveiling as the Reds’ new manager.

Panda Sarrison (‏@_pandasarrison) likes Rodgers’ media presence: “Brendan Rodgers is so much more comfortable with the press than Kenny Dalglish. No quick and cheeky answers, just straight honest answers, love it.”

Andy ‏(@ajnspencer) excited by the appointment: “Listening to Brendan Rodgers I’m excited about the future and can’t wait for next season. Not to see a title, just to see his football. #LFC”

Meanwhile, Jay Castley (‏@Jay_Castley) has a gut feeling that Rodgers will be a success: “Got a good feeling about Brendan Rodgers for some reason, I didn’t think he would be the right man for the job but I hope he is #LFC #YNWA”

Elliot Newstead (‏@ejnewstead) feels the same: “I’ve got a good feeling about Brendan Rodgers, although patience is key here, hopefully no #lfc want him out if we have a bad start.”

And Neil Stanton ‏(@neilstanton83) is also quietly optimistic: “The more I delve into the world of Brendan Rodgers, the more I’m impressed. Whisper it, but we may have done alright here. #lfc”

Baz Cooper ‏(@bazcooper84) hails Rodgers’ potential: “I’ve got a lot of time for Brendan Rodgers, good manager and the type of bloke that should be given the bigger jobs. He is technically excellent.”

Lee Medd ‏(@LeeM1990) is an unhappy Swansea supporter: “Ah nothing like a good betrayal. Well done Brendan Rodgers. I wish you no success at Liverpool – one mid table team to another.”

Andrew Bontiff ‏(@ABontiff4) puts a relationship spin on Rodgers’ move: “Brendan Rodgers to Liverpool is like a bloke after moving in to a new crib with the Mrs, just to see her run off to her childhood sweetheart #scfc”

Brad Chapman ‏(@bradshaw1984) is not fazed by the hype: “Big move for Brendan Rodgers to Liverpool. But am I the only one who thinks the role of Premier League Manager is drastically overhyped?”

But Phil Keyes ‏(@phillipio86) believes Rodgers may be risking his reputation: “I hope Brendan Rodgers hasn’t made a mistake joining #lfc it’s a huge step up for him! Still don’t want to see #lfc win anything though!”

Michael ‏(@supersonicmike) questions Rodgers’ decision to leave: “Brendan Rodgers is a really decent manager, but don’t know why he’d leave what he was building at Swansea, or how it’s step up to go to Liverpool.”

Matthew Dowell ‏(@bungle19) is rather sceptical about Tom Werner’s declaration Rodgers was their preferred candidate: “Liverpool say Brendan Rodgers was their first and only choice? Why did you keep flying Roberto Martinez out to America then?”

It’s a view supported by Daz Smith (‏@Dazlasmith): “How can #lfc say Brendan Rodgers was first choice after meeting Martinez ???? #jokeclub”

Finally, now the manager speculation is over, Ruben Hernandez (‏@tiramiRUBEN) looks forward to a busy summer of transfer activity: “Now that Liverpool finally unveiled Brendan Rodgers as manager, it’s time for the transfer rumours to start! #SummerWindow #LFC”
