Roberto Mancini insists Manchester City want to keep Alexander Kolarov at Eastlands, despite reports linking the left-back with a move back to Serie A.

The Serbia international, who joined City from Lazio for £18m in 2010, made only 12 league starts for Mancini’s men last term as they clinched their first Premier League title since 1968.

Internazionale and Serie A champions Juventus have been touted as possible destinations for the 26-year-old – but Mancini has made clear his desire to retain the defender’s services.

“Kolarov? He is a great left-back and I would like to keep him,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“We have very good players and there are many clubs interested in them, which means that we have done our jobs well.

“We know his [Kolarov’s] value well and we want to keep him.”
