Denmark legend Michael Laudrup is reportedly in talks with Swansea City to succeed Brendan Rodgers at the Liberty Stadium.

The 47-year-old enjoyed a glittering playing career, including spells at Brøndby, Juventus, Lazio, Barcelona and Real Madrid, and Swansea supporters reacted with excitement on Twitter to speculation linking him to the vacant post.

Former Manchster United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel ‏(@Pschmeichel1) is delighted to see his ex-Denmark team-mate possibly moving to the Premier League: “Looks like Michael #Laudrup will be the next Swansea manager. Win win all around. #premierleagueisthebestintheworld”

Nick Whitbread ‏(@WhitbreadN) can see Swansea’s elegant style of football staying: “Looks like Michael Laudrup will be next Swansea manager. They know good football, he knows good football – we should see some good football!”

Red Devils supporter Nick the Red (‏@UnitedFever) considers the former Barcelona and Real Madrid midfielder an icon: “Legendary Michael Laudrup will be the new Swansea manager. A terrific signing. A privilege to have him in the Premier League.”

While Ross Mathura ‏(@Ross_Mathura) believes Laudrup can be a successful coach: “Michael Laudrup would be a very good appointment for Swansea. He was a brilliant player, and been a good manager too.”

Swansea City fan Jordan Evans (@JordanEvz) would be delighted to see Laudrup get the job: “So Michael Laudrup looks set to be the new Swans manager, I’ll take that! #jackarmy #swansfc”

Meanwhile, Gopinath Naidu (‏@GopiTham) believes Laudrup will make Swansea an even better side: “Reports state Michael Laudrup is set to become #Swansea manager. Great news for Swansea if true, very good manager, will develop team.#epl”

And Alex Brown ‏(@AlexBrown78) is impressed by the quality of Laudrup’s CV: “Michael Laudrup – Denmark, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Ajax, Lazio, Juventus….Swansea City? How far have the Swans come? #scfc”

Sam Bill ‏(@Samb90) believes the former Denmark international can be an even greater success than Brendan Rodgers: “Michael Laudrup is a well-regarded manager and might actually be a trade up from their last manager.”

But Aaron (‏@Aaron_H_) spots the trend here in Swansea’s hunt for Rodgers’ replacement: “Laudrup? Desailly? Bergkamp? #Swans have given up on a new manager and are just trying to recruit the greatest European XI of all time.”
