Mark Hughes believes Queens Park Rangers will reap the rewards of their early activity in the transfer market next season.

The 47-year-old helped keep QPR in the English top flight after a series of victories over Arsenal, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur at Loftus Road, coupled with Bolton Wanderers’ failure to beat Stoke City on the final day of the season.

Hughes is now eager to develop the Hoops into an established Premier League outfit and the former Manchester City manager has already secured four new signings as well as tying down a number of key players on revised deals.

Free agents Robert Green, Andy Johnson and Ryan Nelsen have all agreed deals at Loftus Road over the past fortnight, while Samba Diakite – who spent the second half of last season on loan at QPR – completed a permanent transfer from Nancy on Thursday.

Meanwhile, QPR Player of the Year Clint Hill, Jamie Mackie and Kieron Dyer are among the men to have extended their contracts at the London club.

“Getting business done early was always the aim,” said Hughes.

“As soon as the season finished I was scouring Europe, going to France, Germany and Spain all in the space of six days, to look at players, with a view to getting business done early and getting in front of our rivals and setting a marker in terms of what we’re trying to do here.

“Hopefully the early work we’ve done will reap benefits in the future.

“If we can get everyone through the door that we want then we’ll be absolutely delighted.”
