Chelsea’s Roberto Di Matteo: Oscar is a very talented midfielder
Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo describes Oscar as a "very talented" player but refuses to comment on reports of a transfer
Roberto Di Matteo has admitted Chelsea transfer target Oscar is a “very talented” midfielder but refused to discuss talk of the Brazilian starlet moving to Stamford Bridge.
The 20-year-old has been the subject of intense speculation linking him with a move to west London, with reports claiming he is set to undergo a medical ahead of a potential transfer in the coming days after arriving in London with the Brazil squad for the Olympics on Tuesday.
But Chelsea boss Di Matteo remained typically coy when quizzed about the starlet after the Blues were reported to have agreed a £25m fee with Internacional for the transfer of the playmaker.
“I can tell you that he’s not a Chelsea player so it’s difficult for me to talk about a player that doesn’t belong to us,” said Di Matteo.
“I know there has been speculation we are interested in this player and in due course if there is anything to announce we will do. All I would say is that he is a very young talented midfield player.”
Di Matteo also revealed he is yet to speak to midfielder Florent Malouda about his future, with the France international having been recently linked with a move to South America.
“Players are now slowly returning, Malouda was back today and we expect the others to come when we are on the east coast,” said Di Matteo.
“I still haven’t had a chance to speak to Florent, so I need to speak to him first and see what his intentions are, then we will see what the best interests are for him and the club.
“At the moment I am very happy with the squad. We have a good squad, a very good team and have new players with us already. Our job is to try and integrate them into a team that was very successful last season.”
