Hugo Rodallega has completed his move to Fulham on a free transfer, with the former Wigan Athletic striker signing a three-year deal at Craven Cottage, subject to a work permit.

The 26-year-old scored two goals in 23 appearances for Wigan last season – and his move to London was largely welcomed by Fulham supporters on Twitter.

Here are some of the Tweets that caught our eye following the announcement.

The Shin Guardian (‏@shinguardian) reckons it is a good piece of business: “Hugo Rodallega to Fulham. That’s a fantastic move for the Cottagers. Big fan of Rodallega.”

And Keelan ‏(@Keeladinho) agrees: “Hugo Rodallega joins #Fulham on a three-year deal from #Wigan on a free transfer, subject to work permit <- good signing” But Daniel ‏(@DanUppal) reckons the move could pave the way for Clint Dempsey’s exit: “Fulham just signed Hugo Rodallega – does that mean Dempsey could be on the way?”

While Alex Regan (‏@alexregan1994) recalls an interesting stat: “New Fulham signing Hugo Rodallega scored two goals in 1,209 minutes of Premier League action last season…”

Sara (‏@Sara_156) is hoping Dempsey is heading to Merseyside: “Hugo Rodallega scored two goals in 1,209 minutes last season…Great signing Fulhum, now sell us Dempsey! #lfc”

M the G ‏(@CuriousGeorger) is shocked by a different stat: “Hugo Rodallega leaves Wigan as their all-time leading EPL goal scorer with 24 career league goals. Good GOD what a club!”

Meanwhile, Paul Graves ‏(@Pgraves1878) is stunned by Rodallega’s reported wages: “No way is Hugo Rodallega getting £70k a week at Fulham, and if he is it sums up everything that is wrong with football today!”

Everton supporter Stephen Jones ‏(@Stephen92Jones) is not worried that Rodallega opted for Fulham instead of the Toffees: “Not bothered that we missed out on Hugo Rodallega #overrated #jelavic!”

While O Knowles (‏@O_Knowles) thinks it’s a poor signing: “Fulham were building a decent side, but now they’ve signed Hugo Rodallega, my opinion has somewhat changed… #Idiots!”

But Chris Greene ‏(ChrisGreene93) heaps praise on Fulham manager Martin Jol: “Fulham have signed Hugo Rodallega! Proof that Martin Jol is a god.”

And Nick Davie ‏(@Nick_Davie) is pretty pleased: “What a signing by Fulham in bringing Hugo Rodallega to the club. A great player who has joined a decent side!!!”

Finally, Joseph Collins ‏(@JoeyyEden) would have preferred Junior Hoilett: “Hugo Rodallega signs for Fulham. Would prefer Hoilett over him to be fair, gives more options for the squad selection.”
