Emmanuel Adebayor has reportedly completed a permanent transfer to Tottenham Hotspur from Manchester City for an undisclosed fee after the striker’s successful loan spell at White Hart Lane last season.

The 28-year-old scored 18 goals in 37 appearances for Spurs during his season-long loan in north London, with Tottenham fans voicing their delight at the deal on Twitter.

Here are some of the Tweets that caught our eye.

Tottenham fan Matt Hull ‏(@matthull5) is feeling optimistic about his club’s transfer activity this summer: “Really excited to hear – 1) Adebayor is about to sign 2) We are in for Lloris & should sign 3) There’s another big signing to come soon #COYS!”

And Lewis Elson ‏(@lewiselson) has also heard the news on the grapevine: “So Spurs are going to spend big this summer. Adebayor, Lloris, and possibly Hulk??”

While Joel (‏@JoelSoccer) thinks Spurs’ chances of finishing in fourth are looking up: “If Adebayor stays and Modric stays/they get Moutinho I think they can be fourth!”

From a City point of view, Rish MCFC ‏(@RishMCFC) is happy with the deal: “We also earn £6-8m from Adebayor sale, Kolo – £6m ,Weiss – £4m. Good Enough money from deadwood sale. #MCFC”

Arsenal fan Sean Warner ‏(@gooners9998) believes Robin van Persie can learn a thing or two from Adebayor’s experience at City: “Adebayor is a spud and now Kolo Toure to second-class side in Turkey…… Take note #RVP. Grass is not always greener..!”

A bit of wishful thinking from Tottenham fan Kieran Runchman (‏@kieran_runchman): “I wouldn’t be surprised if Manchester City gave Adebayor to us on a free as they have to reduce their wage bill.”

Meanwhile, Ryan Morcom ‏(@RyanMorcom17) knows who he wants Spurs to sign as they strengthen their squad: “Tottenham should set their sights on Moutinho, Adebayor, Lloris and Sturridge. That would be a world class squad for next season! #thfc”

And Brian Simmons ‏(@SimmoTHFC) has worked out Andre Villas-Boas’ tactics for next season: “Possible future AVB Tottenham side – 4-3-3 – Lloris; Walker, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Baines; Sigurdsson, Sandro, Moutinho, Lennon, Bale; Adebayor #THFC #COYS!”

Finally, City supporter Darren (‏@darrenmancity) will be happy to see the deal go through: “I will be just as happy if we sell Adebayor and Santa Cruz as I would if we signed Messi and that’s pretty damn happy!”
