Liverpool need £12m & Ba! Twitter reacts to Newcastle’s Carroll enquiry
Liverpool reject an enquiry from Newcastle to re-sign Andy Carroll on loan, prompting a huge reaction on Twitter
Liverpool have reportedly rejected an enquiry by Newcastle United into the possibility of signing former Magpies striker Andy Carroll on a season-long loan.
The 23-year-old has scored 11 goals in 56 appearances since completing a £35m move to the Reds in January 2011, and news of the bid prompted a huge reaction from fans on Twitter.
Here are some of the Tweets that caught our eye.
Dominic Griffiths (@DomGriffiths94) reckons Andy Carroll’s future at Anfield is looking bleak: “Seems Liverpool have put Andy Carroll up for sale! #LFC”
However, Andrew Marson (@AndrewMarson) is bemused by Liverpool’s decision to name Carroll in their tour squad: “Not sure what to make of Andy Carroll being named in the @LFC tour squad.”
Newcastle United Lee (@Braddy1985) would have no issue with Carroll returning but doesn’t want him to: “Would I welcome Andy Carroll back to #NUFC? Of course I would! I support anyone in a #NUFC top. Do I want him to come back? No!#LFC”
Toon supporter Luke Sullivan (@luke1g1sullivan) reckons Carroll can fit into Alan Pardew’s side: “@NUFC_Stats Andy Carroll is young and still learning it would be a great signing! He’ll win and flick on headers all day for Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse.”
West Ham fan Woody (@grahamgjw) is pessimistic about the Hammers’ chances of signing Carroll: “Fed up with hearing about Andy Carroll to West Ham – it’s not like we stand any chance of getting him!”
Meanwhile, Mark Scott (@Throptoon) can see Demba Ba heading to Liverpool in a potential deal for Carroll: “Anyone else thinking that Demba Ba could be used as a makeweight in any deal for Andy Carroll? #nufc”
Arsenal supporter Aulya Sukma (@AuLyA) is not interested in Andy Carroll as a potential replacement for Robin van Persie: “No thanks.. RT @ArsenalNewsUK: How about Andy Carroll as RVP’s replacement?”
Liverpool fan Adam Cook (@adamcooky) would be happy for Carroll to leave if the Reds got one of Newcastle’s best three players in return: “I wouldn’t mind Andy Carroll going back to Newcastle if we can get Ba, Cisse or Cabaye in return… Hmm #LFC!”
But Sheldon Simpson (@SheldonSimpson) says the deal must be worth at least £12m with Ba heading to Anfield: “The only way I’d accept an ‘Andy Carroll back to Newcastle’ transfer is if we get Demba Ba & 12m. #LFC”
Finally, Manchester City supporter Gary Smale (@gtsmale) wants Liverpool to admit it was a poor signing: “Just wondering with all the @lfc talk about loaning out out AndyCarroll, when will Liverpool accept they bought a £35m dud?”
