Robert Lewandowski has received unofficial offers from a number of “top” Premier League clubs, according to the Borussia Dortmund striker’s agent.

The 23-year-old was in sparkling form for Jürgen Klopp’s side last season, scoring 29 goals in their successful campaign in the Bundesliga and German Cup.

Lewandowski’s future at Dortmund was cast in doubt during Euro 2012 after Poland manager Franciszek Smuda said the striker was set to join Manchester United this summer.

A move to Old Trafford is yet to materialise, but Lewandowski’s agent Maik Barthel confirmed the Poland striker is attracting interest from England – the striker scored the opening goal of the European championship against Greece.

“Unofficially there are offers from top English clubs.” Barthel told Goal.com. “We respect the contract situation in Dortmund and don’t want to take part in speculation. A £13 million transfer fee is not suitable.”

However, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson appears to have turned his attention to unsettled Arsenal captain Robin van Persie after the 70-year-old confirmed on Friday that the Red Devils had a bid rejected for the Netherlands international.

“Obviously Arsenal have given out the fact that we’ve made a bid for him,” Ferguson told United’s website.

“We try to keep business as close as possible to us until the moment we conclude a deal. There’s no point talking about something that might not happen.

“There are other clubs interested in the player. We’ve shown an interest and that’s where we’re at at the moment.”

Sir Alex Ferguson fact-file

• Ferguson shot to prominence at Aberdeen by breaking the Old Firm’s 14-year stranglehold of the Scottish title in 1980.

• He claimed a first European title three years later when the Dons beat Real Madrid to lift the Uefa Cup Winners’ Cup – earning him freedom of the City of Aberdeen.

• Ferguson replaced Ron Atkinson at Old Trafford in November 1986, and ended United’s 26-year wait for an English title in 1993. Has since added ten more championships to a domestic collection which includes five FA Cups and four League Cups.

• He guided United to Uefa Cup Winners’ Cup glory with victory against FC Barcelona in 1991, though his greatest achievements are the UEFA Champions League triumphs of 1999 and 2008.
