Vincent Kompany insists he is already looking towards lifting more trophies at Manchester City less than two months after Roberto Mancini’s men clinched their first Premier League title.

City’s last-gasp victory over Queens Park Rangers back in May handed the Eastlands outfit their first top-flight crown in 44 years as the Citizens pipped derby rivals Manchester United to the title.

But although Kompany admits the dramatic fashion of that victory is not likely to be forgotten any time soon, the Belgium international says he is keen to “move on” and has turned his focus to what lies ahead.

“That last game was one that will remain a very strong part of our history,” said Kompany. “We’ll be speaking about this game for 50 or even 100 years to come. It’s been a big story all over the world. But again, this is over now, and I’m looking forward. It’s about what’s lying ahead.

“In the same way that I enjoyed it, I’m kind of looking forward now and one of the main things for me is not looking back at this game for too long. I just want to move on.

“I think there’s so much more great stuff ahead of us, and that’s what interests me. We’ve said it before. You lay down the foundations and, if you do it right, you can be successful for a long time and that’s the aim.”
