Theo Walcott’s talks with Arsenal over a new contract are believed to have stalled, prompting rumours of possible bids from Liverpool and Manchester City.

The 23-year-old has scored 42 goals in 222 appearances for the Emirates outfit, and Gunners fans expressed their displeasure on Twitter at the prospect of another player potentially leaving the club this summer.

Here are some of the Tweets that caught our eye.

David Hyslop ‏(@David_Hyslop) wants Liverpool to make a bid: “Theo Walcott has 48 hours to sign a new contract or he will be sold. Hopefully a bid coming from #lfc!”

Mr Endowed ‏(@TNashe_) reckons Arsenal have been here before: “Theo Walcott sparks interest from Manchester City and Liverpool after rejecting new contract. #Sigh… Here we go again.”

I Support Arsenal ‏(@ThatGoonerKid) consider Walcott to be too inconsistent: “On his day, Theo Walcott is unplayable. Problem is his day comes about twice a season. #AFC”

But Dewale Doss (‏@Sir_Gives) criticises Arsenal fans: “Robin van Persie was suddenly injury prone, Alex Song was apparently lazy & now Theo Walcott is overrated (all according to devastated Arsenal fans)!”

Samuel Knott ‏(@SamuelKnott) cannot believe another player could be disloyal to Arsenal: “Theo Walcott is another player made by this club that looks to be turning his back on it.”

Alex Spence ‏@spencetimes reckons Walcott should focus on improving at Arsenal: “Theo Walcott is concerned about Arsenal’s direction? How about he focuses on his own game. Never lived up to the hype!”

Vizual Dze ‏(@VizualDze) believes Walcott would be stupid to leave the Gunners: “Theo Walcott would be a fool to leave Arsenal. That is all. #AFC”

Fouad Maghraby (‏@Fouad_Maghraby) is not happy with the winger’s reported wage demands: “Theo Walcott hoping to earn more than 70 grand-a-week for running very fast in straight lines and then wondering what to do.”

AFC Toddy ‏(@iToddy75) thinks Walcott is only worth £12m: “Is Theo Walcott worth £100,000-a-week? No not in my book but he worth more than £12m but probably not by much more!”

Darren Lawson (‏@fudgie8) reckons Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is better than Walcott: “If Theo Walcott wants to leave Arsenal for Liverpool or Manchester City let him go. We still have Alex “The Ox” Chamberlain who’s better.”

City fan Kevin Lefever (‏@KevLef) can’t see why they would sell Adam Johnson and then sign Walcott: “Theo Walcott heading towards city? If so, can someone explain why we sold Adam Johnson?? #MCFC”

GA (‏@Gatzeast) believes QPR could be making a move: “Theo Walcott in talks with QPR ! What the hell haha!”

Liverpool supporter Lorcan Fagan ‏(@LorcanF) doesn’t want Brendan Rodgers to sign Walcott: “Dear Liverpool FC, please don’t sign Theo Walcott #Liverpool!”

Finally, Nathan Hunter (@NathanHunter93) would like to see Walcott at Anfield: “Liverpool could bid £10-£15m for Theo Walcott, or Man City could use their Arsenal clubcard…. Would like Walcott at #LFC!”
