Arsenal target Nuri Sahin could leave on loan, admits Jose Mourinho
Jose Mourinho admits Nuri Sahin could be set for a season-long loan move away from Real Madrid, with Arsenal interested
Jose Mourinho admits Nuri Sahin could be set to leave Real Madrid on a season-long loan, as Arsenal continue to be linked with a move for the Turkey international.
Liverpool have also been touted as a possible destination for the 23-year-old midfielder but the Gunners are likely to step up their pursuit of the player following the sale of Alex Song to Barcelona, which was confirmed on Saturday.
Real Madrid boss Mourinho said a decision has not yet been made but the Portuguese coach confirmed that a temporary deal is on the cards – although he dismissed suggestions of a permanent transfer.
“The most important thing is that he [Sahin] is happy,” Mourinho told a news conference on Saturday. “He had a difficult season last year, due to injuries and the fact he had to break into a team that was settled and was playing well and winning games.
“It’s important for him, his self-esteem, and for Real Madrid that he plays more games. We’re never going to sell him, but whether or not he leaves [on loan] is an important decision for him and for Real Madrid.”
