The 27-year-old attacking midfielder becomes Arsène Wenger’s third major signing this summer, with the Gunners already having brought in Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud.

News of the deal inevitably prompted an avalanche of Tweets from Arsenal fans on Twitter on Tuesday morning.

And here are some of the updates that caught our eye.

Former Arsenal captain Cesc Fàbregas (@cesc4official) is delighted with the news: “I’m so happy to hear that my mate Santi Cazorla is finally a gooner. Top guy, special player. A great signing! Come onnn!”

Matthew Crump ‏(@Crumpy8) believes the Gunners will be a force to be reckoned with once Jack Wilshere is back fit: “Enjoying the signing of Santi Cazorla, get Wilshere fit and some full back cover and squad looking strong #arsenal”

And Jason C. ‏(@jasoncondison) is just thrilled the deal has finally gone through: “I haven’t been this excited about an Arsenal signing for a long time.#Cazorla #AFC”

Jamal Morar ‏(@JDOTMORAR) thanks Robert Pires and Fàbregas for their efforts in persuading Cazorla to move to north London: “Big thanks to @cesc4official and @piresrobert7 for helping us sign Cazorla – if he becomes half the player of you 2 he’ll shine #Gutfeeling”

Arya Vidya Utama ‏(@aryawasho) feels Robin van Persie should re-think his position following Arsenal’s transfer activity this summer: “We’ve signed Santi Cazorla, Olivier Giroud, and Lukas Podolski. Lack of ambition eh @Persie_Official? :p”

And Joshua Rainey ‏(@_JoshuaRainey_) agrees: “Cazorla finally announced as an Arsenal player, great news.. Still not enough ambition for your Van Persie?”

Steve Rossen ‏(@steverossen) now wants a resolution to the Van Persie saga as soon as possible: “Cazorla is official. So far a number of good signings, happy with that. Still not happy I have no idea who is going to be the captain.”

Dinesh ‏(@DinTheDine) is excited by this piece of business: “Wow! Finally done with the signing of Santi cazorla! Great player! Similar to Iniesta in playing style! Good buy!”

But Tottenham fan Marc Simpson ‏(@Marrcsimpson) reckons Cazorla will struggle to adapt to the Premier League: “Arsenal fans are loving new signing Cazorla, but he’s just another name who can’t handle the prem. Good waste of money there. #COYS”

Gunners fan Gooner BWA ‏(@HinduCowAx) is impressed by Wenger’s summer transfer dealings: “Last year we went for Gerv and Park. This year Cazorla and Podolski. Not a lot of difference in prices but a massive difference in quality.”

Gaffer ‏(@CharDaShanksi) echoes the thoughts of many Arsenal fans: “Jubilation hit when I heard we had signed Cazorla. I can’t wait to see him grace the pitch, he is going to become a legend #WelcomeCazorla”

And Ashley Clarke ‏(@Ashley_c01) is pleased with the signing but doesn’t want Wenger to stop there: “Great signing in santi cazorla…wenger has found his cheque book…now go get sahin and another top defender #arsenal”
