Liverpool are reportedly considering selling Daniel Agger amid interest from Premier League champions Manchester City.

The Denmark international has already spoken of his desire to stay at Liverpool this summer, and the Reds supporters reacted angrily on Twitter to news the club’s owners Fenway Sports Group may be willing to cash in on the defender.

Here are some of the Tweets that caught our eye.

Dan Kennett (‏@DanKennett) wants Liverpool to learn from previous mistakes: “Reckon #LFC need to learn from Xabi Alonso with Agger. Both players whose ‘football value’ is more than their finanical value.”

Hafsa (‏@Haffiie) believes it’s the owners forcing the transfer: “Daniel Agger and his agent have both already said he wants to stay. If he’s sold, I’m assuming he’s being forced out.”

And Tasha (‏@tashavanderful) reckons Liverpool would be crazy to sell the Dane: “We really are headless chickens if Agger really is on sale.”

Paul Phillips ‏(@pphilly1977) raises a valid point: “If we want to play attractive attacking football then why should we sell Agger one of the best centre-halfs with the ball at is feet!”

Jasdeep Kohli (‏@GaylordFock3r) believes FSG are starting to show their true character: “If Agger leaves, we all know what FSG’s motive is. Why would you sell our best defender?”

Jordan Williams ‏(@JayWilliams185) is angry: “If we sell Agger to ‘raise funds’ and replace him with Ashley Williams I’ll hit the roof. Won’t be happy at all.”

Andrew Williams ‏(@andrewgerman7) can’t fathom why Liverpool would sell Agger: “So Liverpool are contemplating selling Agger?! What are they playing at? Can’t be selling quality players if were looking to rebuild! #LFC”

Matt Whitehouse (‏@The_W_Address) believes Liverpool need to keep Agger: “Rodgers should hold on to Agger…start with a solid defence & look to build gradually! Too much too soon will only result in failure!”

Michael Fitzgerald ‏(@FitzgeraldNO5) wants FSG to see it’s not all about money: “Rodgers agreement when he signed was he would have full control with transfers. He won’t want rid of Agger. It’s #FSG contemplating how it could work financially for them, rather have how it would affect #LFC as a team. Wait and see what happens. I hope Agger stays.”

Ellie (‏@elliegrahamLFC) says Agger is indispensable: “Agger is irreplaceable… Can’t believe #LFC are even considering letting him go!! BIG BIG mistake if he leaves!”

But Dave Tovey ‏(@davejtovey) would be willing to do business: “Why not swap Agger for Richards and £10m that would be a fair deal… But I would rather Agger stay we can’t keep selling our best players”

Rob Leary (‏@robpharaohs) feels Liverpool have been here before: “Will be gutted if Agger and Bellamy leave. Torres saga all over again. #lfc”

Mr Rager ‏(@JPrattLFC) is confident he knows asking price: “Agger will not leave unless the right offer comes in so don’t worry, he won’t be sold for anyless then £20m!”
