Anderson: Man United ‘looking good’ after Kagawa & Van Persie signings
Manchester United's Anderson believes the first-team is taking shape after the arrival of Shinji Kagawa and Robin van Persie
Anderson believes Manchester United’s first-team is “looking good” following the arrivals of Shinji Kagawa and Robin van Persie this summer.
The Japan midfielder, who joined from Borussia Dortmund, scored his first Red Devils goal in a 3-2 victory over Fulham.
Meanwhile, former Arsenal captain Van Persie opened his account in spectacular fashion against the Cottagers, before netting a superb hat-trick in a 3-2 win at Southampton.
And the Brazil international is pleased to see Sir Alex Ferguson sign such talented players who will provide further competition in United’s squad.
“I think the team looks good,” Anderson told United’s website. “At the beginning of the season it’s always difficult but we’ve got a couple of wins and now we want more.
“Shinji Kagawa and Robin van Persie have a lot of quality. They make it easier for the rest of the team when they have so much talent.
“It also means everybody works harder to try and keep their own place.”
United were pipped to the Premier League title by Manchester City on the final day of the season, with Roberto Mancini’s side finishing top thanks to their superior goal difference.
“We have to do better,” he added. “Manchester United has to win every trophy and we’re disappointed if we don’t.
“There’s always pressure to do well when you play for this club. Last season we lost the league on goal difference and everybody was sad. But we have to forget that and concentrate on this season.”
