Liverpool boss Rodgers warns Suárez to be ‘careful’ after third yellow
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers admits Luis Suárez will have to be "careful" after striker picks up third booking of the season
Brendan Rodgers has warned Luis Suárez that he must be “careful” after the Liverpool striker picked up his third yellow card of the season at Sunderland on Saturday.
The Uruguay striker was booked for what referee Martin Atkinson adjudged to be a dive in the penalty area during the 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light.
And Liverpool boss Rodgers admits the 25-year-old will have to watch his on-field behaviour from now on in order to avoid picking up an automatic suspension.
“You are always trying to educate players and talk to them,” Rodgers said. “That is part of what makes him and he is on to three now so he’ll have to be careful.”
But Rodgers also stressed that Suarez has been a “pleasure” to work with since the Northern Irishman succeeded Kenny Dalglish at Anfield this summer.
He added: “I have no complaints, I read from the outside all these reports about Luis Suárez but he has been an absolute pleasure to work with from the first day I came in here and he is a good guy who works very hard every day and gets his rewards on the field.
“He is an emotional guy, he runs on emotion, as some players do.”
