Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard hails ‘magical’ Luis Suárez

Steven Gerrard has described Luis Suárez as a “magician” after the Liverpool striker netted a hat-trick in their 5-2 victory at Norwich City.
The Uruguay international struck twice in a one-sided first half to give the Reds a commanding two-goal lead, before completing his hat-trick in the 57th minute, with Gerrard and Nuri Sahin also netting.
“Luis has had two fantastic days at Norwich, he’s a magician when he’s on it and he certainly was today,” said Gerrard.
“He scored three, but could have easily have had five or six goals himself out there and should have had a penalty – that’s how good his performance was.”
Brendan Rodgers’ side were denied their first Premier League win by a Manchester United comeback last weekend, with Rafael and Robin van Persie netting in a 2-1 victory.
Gerrard felt the Reds were unlucky to lose to their north-west rivals and praised the Merseyside outfit’s character to bounce back from last Sunday’s disappointment.
“It was a comfortable win for us, we scored five good goals but the pleasing thing was we continued to play well,” added Gerrard.
“Sometimes when things are not going for you, you can start to feel sorry for yourself but we didn’t do that and kept doing the right things and got the
reward.
“I said last week when we lost to Manchester United it was a strange feeling because we played really well and should have beaten them, so it was nice to play well again and win this weekend.
“We are passing the ball well and doing what the manager wants us to do which is pass the ball at a high tempo and it’s enjoyable.”
