Liverpool striker Fabio Borini: I know the goals will come
Liverpool striker Fabio Borini says he is confident the goals will come after a difficult start to his career at Anfield
Fabio Borini is convinced it is only a matter of time until he starts scoring for Liverpool on a regular basis after the Italy international extended his run to four Premier League games without a goal.
The 21-year-old has netted once in the Europa League since completing a £10m switch from Serie A outfit Roma to Anfield in July.
Liverpool have created plenty of chances in their opening Premier League games, only Tottenham have produced more – and Borini is confident his “luck” will change soon.
“There’s not a particular key that can convert the chances into goals,” Borini said.
“It’s just probably a moment or a matter of inches or luck. But I think we have qualities to convert the chances, we see in training and we work every day on shooting. It will come.
“I know they will come because as a striker you always get chances in a game. It’s probably just a moment that you get unlucky or the keeper makes saves. It’s just a moment.”
Borini has been utilised as a wide forward and a central striker since joining the Reds, but the former Swansea City youngster is happy to play anywhere for the benefit of the team.
“My favourite position and my natural position, as I’ve said in the past, is up front, because I played there every time in my career,” he added.
“But if to help the team I need to play left or right, midfield or even in goal, it’s not a problem because to help the team I will do anything. That’s the way it is, and all the players have to do that.”
