Sir Alex Ferguson believes Ángelo Henríquez’s pace will be a “great asset” for Manchester United after the Red Devils completed a deal for the Universidad de Chile youngster.

The 18-year-old has been granted a work permit, allowing United to finalise the move after the winger agreed terms with the 19-time English champions last month.

“Ángelo has made a tremendous impact on the game in his short career so far,” Ferguson told United’s website.

“His pace is a great asset and he reads the game really well for someone of such a young age.

“We have a proud record of developing young talent and Angelo fits the profile of a United player – skilful, attacking and someone who plays the game with real flair.”

Henríquez scored 15 goals in 27 appearances for Universidad in 2012, and the winger revealed his delight to be joining such a prestigious club.

“I am thrilled to be joining the biggest club in the world. Manchester United is a great team and has a great manager,” said Henríquez.

“To be able to be part of that is a huge honour and I can’t wait to get started.

“I hope I can be part of many successful years with United.”

Ferguson also signed Alexander Büttner, Shinji Kagawa, Nick Powell and Robin van Persie during the summer transfer window as the Reds Devils look to reclaim the Premier League crown from rivals Manchester City.
