Man City’s Joe Hart: We need to play like Premier League champions
Manchester City's Joe Hart urges his team-mates to start "playing like Premier League champions" ahead of Fulham trip
Joe Hart admits Manchester City need to start “playing like Premier League champions” after a difficult start to the campaign.
Roberto Mancini’s men are already trailing early pace-setters and title rivals Chelsea by five points after a 1-1 stalemate with Arsenal at the Etihad on Sunday.
City suffered a shock 4-2 defeat by Aston Villa in the Capital One Cup in midweek to extend the Citizens’ winless streak to four games in all competitions.
Hart, who was a mainstay of the title-winning side last term, insisted the Eastlands outfit are in high spirits, but conceded a big performance is needed against Fulham.
“We go in there with confidence, we’re the champions and we need to play like champions,” Hart told City’s website.
City will look to secure their third win of the season at Craven Cottage on Saturday, and Hart is expecting a tough challenge after their 2-2 draw at Fulham last term.
“It’s going to be hard, it was hard last year – they took the first points of the season off us last season,” he said.
“The year before we played really well and beat them comfortably, so I think we need a little bit more of that.
“It’s always a tough game with a good crowd that appreciates football,” he concluded.
“They’re not too harsh though, they get behind their team and Fulham are a good side.”
