Mikel Arteta believes Arsenal’s unbeaten start to the season has acted as a confidence-booster for Arsene Wenger’s men.

The Gunners fought back from a goal down to claim a draw at Manchester City on Sunday following back-to-back wins over Liverpool and Southampton.

Sunday’s draw leaves the north Londoners in fifth place and level on points with Roberto Mancini’s defending champions – and Arteta has been thrilled with Arsenal’s solid start to the campaign.

“It is [a confidence boost] because we have already been to three of the toughest places you can go to – Liverpool, Man City and Stoke – and I think we deserved to win all of them,” Arteta told Arsenal’s website.

“Two of them we drew and one we won but we could have won them all easily. It shows we are doing things in the right way.

“We are training well, the team is organised and ambitious. We want more and more each game.”

Arteta is confident Arsenal can mount a genuine title challenge this term if they can build on their impressive early-season form.

“What we are trying to do is get as close as we can and keep building that belief that we are as good as the Manchester clubs,” he continued.

“If we carry on until March or April when it is really tight and hang in there, I think the spirit we have got in this team can get us something.”
