Fábio da Silva admits he is relishing Queens Park Rangers’ London derby showdown with Chelsea next Saturday.

The 22-year-old has started two Premier League games after joining the Hoops on a season-long loan deal from Manchester United in July.

The Brazil international was unable to prevent QPR from suffering a 3-1 defeat by Manchester City in their last game, but Fábio is excited to face Chelsea in another huge game at the club’s vociferous Loftus Road stadium.

“I know all about the rivalry between QPR and Chelsea,” Fábio told QPR’s website. “All the players know about this. It is a big derby game and I am ready for it.

“These ones are more special to be play in, definitely. We really want to win this game because we know what it means to our supporters to win this match. It is very exciting.

“Matches like this have an extra edge. I have played at Loftus Road two times and I am really looking forward to this weekend because the atmosphere is going to be incredible.”

Fábio is just one of 11 new arrivals at QPR after Mark Hughes revamped his squad during the summer transfer window.

Despite failing to register a first league victory in their opening three games, Fábio is confident QPR’s new-look side is starting to gel.

“I have settled very well,” he said. “It is very nice here and things are getting better and better.”

“We showed there that we are starting to get to know each other.

“We played some good football against them and I think if we can play against Chelsea like we did in the second half at Manchester City, we can get a positive result.”

“This will be difficult for us, I know this. But we are going to work very, very hard in this game.”
