Arsenal ‘over the moon’ with Santi Cazorla, says Arsene Wenger
Arsene Wenger heaps yet more praise on Arsenal new-boy Santi Cazorla after his impressive start to life in north London
Arsene Wenger has heaped praise on Arsenal new-boy Santi Cazorla following the the Spaniard’s impressive start to life in the Premier League.
Cazorla, the Gunners’ £16m record signing, sealed a move to north London from Malaga during the summer and has made a number of eye-catching performances for Wenger’s men.
Wenger admits he has been thrilled by the 27-year-old’s seamless integration into his first team – and the Frenchman concedes the playmaker is unlucky not to have featured more at international level for Spain.
“We are all over the moon with Santi Cazorla,” Wenger told a news conference on Tuesday. “We are happy with him.
“He is not only an exceptional football player, but as well an exceptional person who is every day happy to play, to practice and has a very good team attitude. We are very, very happy with him.
“The problem for Santi Cazorla is that if he was Finnish of course he would play [for the national team]! If he was English as well, but Spain at the moment is gifted with so many good midfielders that it is very difficult to get into the team.
“Even there, I think he plays in some games and I hope in the future he will play more.”
