Cesc Fàbregas: I’d have spent my whole career at Arsenal
Former Arsenal captain Cesc Fàbregas says he would have been ready to spend the rest of his career in north London
Cesc Fàbregas insists he would have been ready to spend his whole career at Arsenal should Barcelona have not shown an interest in re-signing him.
The former Gunners captain spent eight years in north London after moving to Arsenal as a 16-year-old, before opting to re-join his boyhood club last summer.
Fàbregas, who scored 57 goals in 303 appearances for Arsenal, looks back fondly on his time at the Premier League side and claims he would have been happy to continue playing for Arsene Wenger’s men if his boyhood club were not interested in bringing him back to Camp Nou.
“It was a dream for me to play for Barcelona, but I was not bitter about Arsenal,” Fàbregas told Foot Mercato.
“On the contrary, I lived in the most beautiful city in the world, I was in an incredible team with a great coach and the fans loved me.
“It was not a matter of life or death. If Barça had not come, I would have spent my entire career at Arsenal. That is certain.”
