Kevin Pietersen returns to England squad for tour of India
Kevin Pietersen has been added to the England squad for the tour of India in November, the ECB confirms
Kevin Pietersen has been recalled to England’s Test squad for their tour of India.
The 32-year-old was dropped for England’s third Test match against South Africa after the batsman admitted to sending “provocative” text messages to Proteas players about his team-mates during the summer.
The ECB revealed plans to “reintegrate” Pietersen back into the England set-up earlier this month, and the South-African born star has held regular clear-the-air-meetings with other players and management ahead of Thursday’s announcement.
“We were keen that Kevin should hold a series of face-to-face meetings with team management and senior players before the Test squad departs for the UAE and India next week,” said ECB managing director Hugh Morris.
“The meetings were constructive and cordial and all outstanding issues have been resolved.
“All the England players and management are now keen to draw a line under this matter and fully focus on the cricketing challenge that lies ahead in India.”
National selector Geoff Miller added: “We are pleased to welcome a player of Kevin’s proven international calibre back into the Test squad for such an important series.”
Alastair Cook’s side will face India in the first Test of the series in Ahmedad on 15 November.
