Liverpool transfers: Palermo’s Josip Ilicic cools talk of Anfield switch
Liverpool transfers: Palermo attacking midfielder Josip Ilicic dismisses reports linking the Slovenian with a move to Anfield
Josip Ilicic has dismissed reports linking the Palermo attacking midfielder with a move to Liverpool.
Brendan Rodgers is facing a striker crisis after Fabio Borini sustained a broken foot in training for Italy’s Under-21 side, leaving Luis Suárez as the Reds’ only recognised forward.
Ilicic, who signed a five-year contract at Palermo in 2011, has made just two appearances this season, and the Slovenia international insisted he is focused on his current club despite transfer speculation.
“New rumours about my future? Nothing new, everything is quiet on this front. It is normal for me that there are rumours. One day you are linked with one club, another day with another club,” Ilicic told Sport Press.
“That is normal, but I am still at Palermo. I am only thinking about my team. The summer is well over and the transfer window reopens in January, which is far away.
“Now I am a Palermo player, I don’t know what will happen in the future. We will see.”
