Man City’s Edin Dzeko: I hope we’ll get better and better after Fulham win
Manchester City's Edin Dzeko is hoping the Citizens' 2-1 victory over Fulham will help kick-start their Premier League campaign
Edin Dzeko believes Manchester City’s 2-1 victory over Fulham can help the defending Premier League champions get their season back on track.
Roberto Mancini’s men have endured a mixed start to the campaign, claiming unconvincing wins against Southampton and Queens Park Rangers and drawing with Arsenal, Liverpool and Stoke City.
The Citizens appeared to be heading towards their first defeat after Mladen Petric gave Fulham the lead at Craven Cottage, before Sergio Aguero levelled and Dzeko scored a late winner to leave City four points behind leaders Chelsea.
“Of course I enjoy it [coming off the bench and scoring the winner],” Dzeko told City’s website.
“We had a hard game here because Fulham are a good side, especially when they play at home, at the end I came on and scored the winning goal.
“I’m so happy and proud, for the team as well, because we didn’t play the last few games like we did from the beginning last season. From now on, I hope it will be better and better.”
“That’s my job [to score important goals for the club]. That’s the best thing I can do on the pitch. I will always try to score as many as possible.”
Meanwhile, Aguero was pleased to start his second successive game after recovering from a knee injury.
“I am happy about the goal, but more importantly for the win and that is the most important thing,” said Aguero.
“I am very, very happy because the club looks after me very well, the club looks after me and we all have a great team spirit – Manchester is a great city.”
