Ray Parlour believes France striker Olivier Giroud is already “the main man” at Arsenal despite a slow start to life in the Premier League.

The 26-year-old, who was signed in a £12m deal from Montpellier this summer, netted his first top-flight goal in Arsenal’s 3-1 victory over West Ham United in their last league outing.

Former Gunners midfielder Parlour believes the France international will now start to find some form after netting at Upton Park and prove to be a top signing for the club.

“It does take time to settle at a new club and maybe into a new way of life for his family. Some players settle straight away and others take a little bit more time but I think he has done ok,” Parlour told talkSPORT.

“He had a brilliant game against West Ham. I think Giroud is the main man [at Arsenal]. The goal against West Ham will help him to push on now.

“I think he will be a really good signing.”
