Panathinaikos 1 Tottenham 1: Andre Villas-Boas admits there is "a sense of disappointment" after draw in Athens
Andre Villas-Boas could not hide his disappointment after his Tottenham Hotspur side were held to a draw at Panathinaikos on Thursday.
Spurs looked to be in total control throughout the first half and took the lead 10 minutes before the break when Michael Dawson glanced home Tom Huddlestone’s free-kick.
But the north Londoners were made to pay for their failure to extend their lead in the 77th minute as Jose Toche poked his finish past Hugo Lloris after latching onto a superb through-ball from Giorgos Seitaridis.
The result leaves Villas-Boas’ men with two points from their opening two Europa League games and third in Group J.
“There is a sense of disappointment,” said Villas-Boas. “In the second half, we made a lot of mistakes in passing and that let them in the game. But a point away from home is positive.”
Tottenham welcome Aston Villa to White Hart Lane on Saturday as Villas-Boas’s side look to make it four wins in a row in the Premier League.
