Arsenal’s Wenger backs Redknapp to reverse QPR’s fortunes
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes Harry Redknapp is the right man to guide Queens Park Rangers out of trouble this season
Arsene Wenger is expecting Harry Redknapp to successfully mastermind a Queens Park Rangers revival at Loftus Road after he was appointed as Mark Hughes’ successor at the weekend.
The 65-year-old takes the reins in west London with the Hoops rooted to the bottom of the table on four points and yet to record a Premier League victory this season.
Redknapp’s side take on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday and Wenger is expecting the former Tottenham Hotspur boss to restore the R’s self-belief as they look to climb up the table.
“I think he must be happy,” Wenger said. “He has always done well, Harry Redknapp, when he came in and took a team in trouble.
“You expect him to give them a boost because when you come to a team like QPR at the moment, they have quality but they lack belief, and he’s one of the guys who can boost that belief.
“They are not too far down because there are some other teams that are not far away from them with not many points. There are some other teams who are not out of reach. It is feasible [that they can stay up].”
