Lukas Podolski is convinced Arsenal are “strong enough” to qualify for the Champions League knockout stage.

Goals from Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud put the Gunners in charge against Schalke after losing 2-0 to the Bundesliga club at The Emirates a fortnight ago.

However, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar pulled a goal back for the home side before Jefferson Farfán restored parity with the game finishing 2-2.

The result leaves Arsène Wenger’s men on seven points and in second place in Group B, just a point ahead of Olympiakos.

“I think 2-2 is a fair result. Schalke’s goal just before the break was something of a blow for us,” said Podolski.

“They applied a lot of pressure in the second half, and that’s why I think both teams deserved a point.

“We’re still strong enough to get out of the group – that remains our objective.

“Schalke are a very, very good team. They work very well when they don’t have the ball, and have fantastic players going forward.”
