Vettel is 13 points ahead of Alonso in the drivers’ standings heading into Sunday’s race and can secure his third straight world title with anything better than a fifth-place finish at Interlagos.

Hamilton, who is gearing up for his last race with McLaren after signing with Mercedes from next season, was 0.274 seconds quicker than Vettel, who was 0.292 faster than Alonso.
