Chelsea 0 Man City 0: Roberto Mancini disappointed with a point
Chelsea 0 Man City 0: Roberto Mancini says the Citizens were "too soft" in the Blues' penalty area after drawing at Stamford Bridge
Roberto Mancini admitted he was disappointed with a point after Manchester City were held to a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge.
David Silva failed to test Petr Cech with a tame header after good work from Pablo Zabaleta on the right wing, before Sergio Aguero also fluffed a simple chance ahead of half-time.
Chelsea improved after the interval, and Eden Hazard and Juan Mata combined to present misfiring striker Fernando Torres with a chance to test Joe Hart, but the Spaniard blazed over the crossbar.
Mancini introduced Mario Balotelli and Carlos Tevez in search of a late winner, but it was Chelsea who came closest, with Torres almost getting away from City captain Vincent Kompany in the closing moments.
“Games here are always hard but today we played well while missing the last pass,” Mancini told Sky Sports.
“We were too soft when we arrived near the box, you can play well like here and not win the game.
“We had the better chances, I think that we lost two points. We dominated the first half, but the second half was not quite like that.
“It was difficult for them, but we played well. Last year we lost a good game, this year we took one point. I am not happy but I prefer this.”
