Chelsea transfers: Roberto Di Matteo admits Radamel Falcao would walk into any team in the world amid rumours of £48m bid
Roberto Di Matteo has fuelled speculation linking Radamel Falcao with a move to Chelsea by declaring that the Colombia striker would walk into any team in the world.
Falcao, 26, has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months, with Blues defender David Luiz this week urging the Atletico Madrid striker to move to Stamford Bridge if given the chance.
Falcao, who netted a stunning first-half hat-trick against Chelsea in the Uefa Super Cup in Monaco back in August, has been the subject of reports claiming the west Londoners could launch a £48m bid for the striker in January.
Di Matteo admits he is a keen admirer of the forward, who helped fire Atletico to Europa League glory last season and has already netted 13 goals in nine games this term.
“If you ask any manager, he would have him in his team,” Di Matteo told a news conference on Friday.
“He is one of the best strikers, probably, in European and world football. His ratio of goals per game is quite impressive, not just this season but over the last three seasons, at Porto and Atletico Madrid.”
Di Matteo’s comments come after Falcao earlier this week admitted he is “dreaming” about a move to another league – but still insists he remains focused on the task at hand in Madrid.
“The chance of playing in another league and for another club will come,” Falcao told Radio Caracol. “I keep dreaming. I know that in time I would like to go to a different team. But I have three more years left on my contract with Atletico.
“The dream is always there. The Premier League is an interesting league but I have a few years left on my contract with Atletico and I’m just focusing on Atletico.”
