Elsewhere, Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko netted a dramatic winner in a 2-1 victory over Tottenham, while West Ham United were 1-0 victors at St James’ Park.

Here is the best of the reaction from the professionals on Twitter.

City striker Edin Džeko (‏@EdDzeko) pays credit to the supporters: “Enormous THANK YOU to all of my 200,000 followers, to all my faithful fans who are always there for me, no matter what every day is a new challenge, a new opportunity, and with every new day comes new strength.. Thank you for believing in me as much as I do!”

Spanish playmaker David Silva (‏@21LVA) is pleased to make it through the 2-1 victory unscathed: “Important victory, happy to play the whole game after my injury!”

City defender Pablo Zabaleta ‏(@pablo_zabaleta) is delighted to win: “Hello everyone! Massive three points today against Spurs. Great spirit by the team! Thanks to all the fans for the support!! Come on City!”

Liverpool defender Jose Enrique (‏@jose3enrique3) is happy with a point at Chelsea: “Thanks for all your message. Great performance by the team today. Unlucky in the extra time with the chance I had :(((. Hope you have a good weekend.”

Reds shot-stopper Brad Jones (‏@Brad_Jones1) is also pleased to frustrate Chelsea: “Good point in the end today. Difficult place to come and a very good Chelsea team. Thought our boys coped well.”

Former Reds star Dietmar Hamann ‏(@DietmarHamann) discusses which striker Liverpool should sign this January: “I can’t see Huntelaar coming he seems to be happy in the fatherland, plays Champions League football and is adored by their fans so look somewhere else LFC scouts…If I could take one player and there might be a chance to it would be Adebayor …on his day monstrous he would get the love at LFC he needs!”

West Ham’s Yossi Benayoun (‏@YossiBenayoun15) reveals he will undergo a scan on an injury: “Big win today, important three points, had a strong kick on my knee so Monday morning going for a scan.”
