Nicklas Bendtner is hoping to give his fledgling Juventus career a timely boost by helping the Turin outfit beat Chelsea in the Champions League.

The 24-year-old is yet to score for the Serie A champions after joining the club on a season-long loan deal from Arsenal in the summer.

Antonio Conte’s side welcome the Champions League holders to Turin on Tuesday night, and Bendtner now feels he is nearing peak fitness after a slow start to life in Italy.

“I have come to one of, if not the, the biggest club in Italy to win something, to play and to score goals,” Bendtner told BBC Sport.

“It took me a month or so to get fit but now that I am I’ve played many games, coming on as a substitute.

“Obviously, I hope to establish myself even more in Italy and start scoring goals for Juventus.”

He added: “I don’t think you can underestimate Chelsea. Even though they haven’t won in four games they are always difficult to play against,” the striker added.

“They also won this competition last season so we have to stay on our guard and make sure that they don’t win this game either.”

• The Blues have won only once in eight visits to Italy, a 4-0 group stage success at Lazio in 2003-04 in which Frank Lampard got the final goal. The other seven games have resulted in four defeats and three draws

• Chelsea have now lost three of their last 12 away group games, winning five.

• Juventus’s win against Nordsjælland on matchday four ended an unprecedented nine successive draws in European competition; the previous high was seven.

• Gianluigi Buffon, Leonardo Bonucci, Marchisio and Andrea Pirlo have played every minute of Juve’s group stage campaign.
