Brendan Rodgers has revealed he is hoping to bring in a couple of players on loan in January to bolster Liverpool’s “ultra-thin” squad.

The Merseysiders have been linked with a host of players in recent months, including the likes of Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge and Arsenal forward Theo Walcott.

Rodgers, whose side are 11th in the Premier League table following Sunday’s stalemate at Swansea City, says the majority of the transfer speculation concerning the Reds is untrue but the Northern Irishman is still hopeful of securing a number of temporary deals.

“The squad has been ultra-thin right the way through,” Rodgers told talkSPORT ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur. “There will be some money available.

“There have been a million names linked to the club and the brutal honesty of it is that ninety nine per cent of those we haven’t been thinking about.

“But there will be a bit of money to spend and hopefully we can get one or two loans in, if that’s possible, to reinforce the group.”
